Take a breath, make it deep

It kinda sucks to always end up on the opposite side of all the angels. No matter what you do you're always gonna be the one in the wrong, because it most certainly isn't going to be them.

I realised how... 'pampered' my life has been so far. My parents have always given me loads of things, but it usually tended towards things they thought i needed rather than things that I actually wanted. I notice a large majority of the toys and computer games my parents used to buy for me were all for semi-educational purposes, whereas the truly fun stuff always came from others. I suppose I should be thankful that I even got toys in the first place, but right now all it does is make me wonder whether I'll be the same when I grow up.

Elizabeth mentioned some time ago that I expect too much of everyone, especially myself. Til now I'm still unsure how much truth there was in that statement.

Quote of the Day

comes from my brother.

Tom (while studying for his History CT) : This is bullshit. I'm not here to read history, I'm here to make it.

Stronger

Since last posting I have :
  • Ended Prelims.
  • Finished Heroes V.
  • Drank legally for the first time.
  • Bowled and got a score of 181, which is a hell lot more than I used to get.
  • Learned a new Spider-Man combo.
  • Laminated the posters from my class and framed them in my room.
  • Played an hour and a half of soccer with my brother's class.
  • Done the entire 'Probability' chapter in my Ten Year Series. (this was actually more for fun than anything else)
  • Attempted to explain to my brother the merits of studying hard.
  • Watched Ocean's 13.
Speaking of which, I need to learn how to pick locks. One of those useful lifeskills that's right up there with playing bridge and speaking Chinese.

There's no school tomorrow, and I've got no plans. So unless something happens I predict my life will start to feel rather unfulfilling at around 1pm. (coincidentally when my mom gets back from Bible Study and I can no longer play games) Hence I might actually end up doing some work tomorrow. This of course hinges on the hope that my mom doesn't get a call from one of her friends to go for a lunch date that would somehow stretch til 8pm.

... There's a higher probability of that happening for her tomorrow than for me in my entire life.

Gifts And Curses

If that's what it means to be blessed, then I am so badly cursed that I could spew out enough different vulgarities to last 5 minutes.

I went to Ikea today with Elizabeth. I used to like the place - up until I was deemed too old to play in the ball-place and had to follow my parents around to look at furniture. Now I just like meat balls, but the problem is that nobody goes to Ikea JUST to buy meatballs. You're like... obliged to walk through every section of the place. I have to admit though, the 22 meters squared home looked really appealing.

The problem with the whole place is that there are like so many different kinds of nice beds, drawers, tables, chairs and the like, all of which you're never going to buy. Even if you do end up buying you'll only buy ONE, one among the sea of other nice ones out there. You try to justify to yourself and say that this one is special, that it was made just for you, but deep down you know any other could have done just as well. I guess in the end you just come to accept what you have and be happy with it.

... I'm still talking about furniture, right?

Eggs

Let us learn to show our friendship for a man when he is alive and not after he is dead.

Bregan D'aerthe

'You try to build here,' Kimmuriel remarked even as he started into the chimney and his magical road back to the Underdark. 'You grasp to create something on the World Above, yet no matter your success, it could not rival that which awaits you in Menzoberranzan. I try to understand you, Jarlaxle, but even my brilliance is no match for your unpredictability. What is it you seek here that does not already await you in our homeland?'
Freedom, Jarlaxle thought, but did not say.
Of course, Kimmuriel was a psionist, and a powerful one indeed, so Jarlaxle never really had to 'say' anything to him to get his point across.
Kimmuriel stared at him for afew moments, then slowly nodded. 'There is no freedom,' he finally said. 'There is only survival'
